Carnival

We have survived another year of Carnival. For those of you who have never experienced Carnival in Salvador, which I am sure is the majority, it is party time on steroids. The city shuts down for about a week, close to a million tourist flock to the city and everyone goes to the huge parades and concerts and all night parties. For us it was a fairly quiet last few days. The major carnival events are not close to where we live, so our side of town was fairly peaceful. We spent some time trying to finish unpacking and getting our house organized.

On Tuesday we went out to the area-wide C of C Carnival retreat. Most Christian in Brazil tend to flee the cities during Carnival, also everyone is off from work so it is a good time for a retreat. This year, since I am 8 months pregnant, we decided not to camp out with the heat and sometimes working showers and just go for the day. We had such a fun time seeing friends. We spent most of the day catching up with our brothers and sisters. Kelton played until he could play no more. We took our football. None of the other kids had ever played with a football before, so we tried to teach them how to throw it and catch it. It was fun to watch.

We are so grateful for our Christian friends here in Salvador. It is always encouraging to spend time with them. God is so good to us.
