Our new car
We have a car. We would like to thank everyone who helped us purchase our little car. We have a '04 4-door Volkswagon Gol. One of the things we like best about our car is that it can run on gasoline or alcohol or any combination of the two. Alcohol is quite a bit cheaper than $6 a gallon gasoline.
Having a car is certainly more convenient than having to rely on the bus system, walking or taking taxis. Somedays we save a lot of time but others we are out longer because we usually end up giving lots of people rides. From taking our teammates home after a team event, to taking youth home Friday nights after devo, to taking people home with us after church for lunch, our little car is very often packed to the brim with people. And if it isn't packed with people it is full of stuff. Although our trunk is small it is amazing how much stuff we can get in it. It seems we are always toting something from one place to another. We even had a rack put on top of the car so we can carry all the luggage of our out of town guests. Kelton loves to ride in his car seat. He lets us know immediately if we have forgotten to lock him in.
Something we didn't expect when we bought our car was our increase in stress. Living in this megacity of 4 million, we have a lot of traffic. Also here in Brazil traffic laws are, shall we say, not enforced. We have become very Brazilian in the sense that we have learned the exact dimensions of our car very well. But we are getting used to driving here and are very thankful for the Lord's protection.
We are so grateful for the gift of this vehicle. Praise God for his provision.

I'm so happy for you guys that you finally got a car! I admire you for being able to hold on so long without one. Amazing. We're happy that things are going so well in Salvador! Did you get my e-mail about the missionary conference? I'm not sure if I had the right address. Let me know. We love you guys!

Great Car!
Drive in God's protection. Serve the lost and the saved with it and God will give the increase. Love to see your pictures.
Really, REALLY looking forward to seeing you guys in a few months. Our love to all, especially the Porter household.
