My Dad #2

Again and again, I cannot say thank you enough to all of you who have been praying for my dad. He is doing well. About a week and a half ago he had surgery to remove his arm because of cancer and praise God it looks like it has been removed. If you can believe it they sent him home on Sunday only four days after removing his arm and he seems to have not missed a beat. He came on Sunday and on Tuesday started working on selling insurance again. This past week was marked with several blessing and triumphs. My dad has figured out how to button his pants and his shirt and put on his socks and shoes all with just one hand and a few gadgets. He also had more energy this past week than he has had in a long time. For me it has been a testament to how much energy the body uses to fight cancer.

Most remarkable though has been his spirit. No one is ever excited about losing an limb, which would include my dad. However, he has done well. He has been happy and joyful this past week. He looked for ways to adapt and adjust and sees this as a great adventure. And in all of this he has not lost his sense of humor.

Thank you again for praying for my dad. I ask that you continue praying for him and his healing. Pray for his continued adjustment.

My Dad

First, thank you so much for praying for my dad. For those of you who may not know. My has had cancer for the last little bit. He originally had it 22 years ago and it has reoccured a few times (this being the third). Each time they have been able to take care of the cancer by various means. When it reoccured this time though, they decided they needed to amputate the arm.

While this was not anyone's first choice it is our best option. Therefore plans were made to do surgery next week. However on Monday on his way home from the doctor’s office he started bleeding and they had to come back to the hospital. They then moved the surgery up and did it yesterday morning. Everything went well.

I want to thank so many of you for your prayers. We have felt your prayers and know God is with us. Just so you know, my dad is doing well. He came out of surgery yesterday and spent most of the day sleeping and punching a morphene button. Today he is talking and joking and having a good time. The surgery went well and hopefully we will be leaving the hospital in a couple of days. We have a great and powerful God who has been with us at every step through the good and the bad. thank you all so much for praying. we love you all.

Our night with the Elders

We just finished an evening with the elders at the church here in Levelland and what a great night it was. We were able to sit around two tables with several elders and their wives and talk about our lives over the past two years. We are blessed to have such a great cloud of witnesses and we are blessed to have the opportunity to sit down with them. They are a good group of men and women people I have known most of my life. I love them for how they guided me as a child and youth. I love them even more now as I am now even more able to see the spirit of God working in them. We should all be so blessed.
